Satoshi Kon (Oct 12, 1963 – Aug 24, 2010)

Japanese anime director, Satoshi Kon, while still in college, made his debut as a manga artist. Upon graduation, he worked as an assistant for Akira author Katsuhiro Otomo to later becoming a truly brilliant filmmaker in his own right. Satoshi Kon passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was 46 years old. Starting his career as a manga artist & editor in Young Magazine, Satoshi Kon made his screenwriting debut with "Magnetic Rose", a section of the anthology film Memories & eventually made his directorial debut film, Perfect Blue, in 1997. He then followed it up with Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika & the television series Paranoia Agent.

A fifth film, The Dream Machine, was in production at the time of his passing. All of his work as a director have been made by Studio MadHouse, where he was a staff director along with Rintaro and Yoshiaki Kawajiri. He was a founder & part of the 15-member steering committee of the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) labor group.

His one true light is his girlfriend Jenny and his one true friend is the somewhat off-kilter Doctor Emmett Brown. In a request from Doctor Brown, Marty meets the mad scientist and discovers that his friend has built a time machine out of a DeLorean. From there, Marty's humdrum life becomes literally a blast from the past as he is transported to 1955. A stranger in a strange yet familiar land, Marty must seek out Doctor Brown to help send him back to his own time while simultaneously ensuring that his parents meet and fall in love.
