Che: El Argentino & Guerrilla (What to Know)
Soderbergh Making Back-to-Back Che Films
Steven Soderbergh is finally ready to make his long-gestating biopic of Latin American revolutionary Che Guevara, & he'll do so with two films.Sources have leaked to us that Soderbergh will shoot them back-to-back, using mostly Spanish dialogue. Production begins next May in Mexico & other South American locations.Benicio Del Toro will play Guevara with Javier Bardem, Franka Potente & Benjamin Bratt are in talks to play key roles. The producer is Laura Bickford, who began working on the project with Del Toro & Soderbergh right after they made Traffic together.
The first film, The Argentine, begins as Che and a band of Cuban exiles (led by Fidel Castro) reach the Cuban shore from Mexico in 1956. Within two years, they mobilized popular support & an army and toppled the U.S.-friendly regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista.
The second film, Guerrilla, begins with Che's trip to New York, where he spoke at the United Nations in 1964 & was celebrated in society circles. Soderbergh has already shot that opening footage with Del Toro and Julia Ormond, who plays TV journalist Lisa Howard.
Soderbergh has already shot that opening footage with Del Toro & Julia Ormond, who plays TV journo Lisa Howard. Journalist acted as an informal intermediary between the Kennedy White House & Cuba.
Combined budget for the pic pair is less than $70 million. Both scripts were written by Peter Buchman, who, with Del Toro, has been working with a translator to put the dialogue into Spanish. Filmmakers also have been shooting a companion documentary while researching the film, including interviews with many of those who fought alongside Guevara in Cuba & in Bolivia.

Superman to Return, Again. (What to Know)
According to our sources, the "Superman Returns" sequel is now in the works. Warner Bros was not gambling on a sequel after the film became a box-office failure.
The reality is, "Superman Returns" brought in $200 million domestically, which covered its production budget. Then the film went on to bring in the same amount worldwide, bringing the total to almost $400 million. Impressive.
With the DVD on the way to do even more damage to some of your wallets, the studio has finally agreed to bring Superman for a sequel. After MUCH fighting for & hyping it up, Bryan Singer got the deal signed & sealed with the start of pre-production scheduled for September.
The big differences between the two films will be a smaller budget, being somewhere between $140 and $175 million. Small? Not! But more importantly there will be more action, thank the gods. Warner Bros. shockingly feels happy the way the first film re-introduced Superman back to the world, & now it's time to re-introduce his powers, of course, duh.
We have been told that Superman will have the battle of his life in the sequel & audiences can expect one of the ultimate baddies in the D.C. universe to come to Metropolis to pick a fight with the Man of Steel. Please don't let it be Doomsday! PLEASE!!!!!! Brainiac anyone?

As the clock ticks closer to 24's highly anticipated return, Fox has made a special, extended "Day Six" teaser available for worldwide viewing below! For all of you who have written off Jack, Jack was last seen, bound & tortured, on a ship headed for China. His life is now the tipping point for U.S. International relations. On the "24" hour themed movie, Keifer Sutherland, spoke to sources about the current status of the movie project. While many fans, why I do not know, are itching to see their favorite show on the big-screen, Sutherland has confirmed that he is completely dedicated to the show for now even though over the summer he worked with the show's writers for the new season. A script is being worked ion but getting the show's 24 hour theme to work for a film is still being worked on. I personally cannot see how this will work as a movie but we shall see if Bauer can escape crappy movie hell.

He-Man & The Masters of the Universe (What to Know)
John Woo's He-Man remake is now further delayed. The movie based on the 80's cartoon series about the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man, who goes against the evil forces of Skeletor to save the planet Eternia & protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull has been set up at John Woo's company for a while, but according to a representative of Lions Rock, the project is still a few light years away from coming to fruition. "John is attached, but the project isn't a priority or high on his radar. Essentially, [he] lost enthusiasm", the source tells us. Even with a script for the film having been turned in it is not clear if it will get optioned should the film ultimately get the greenlight. It's just as likely that rewrites or another writer might be hired to add some ink to the mightly Adam's story.
All in all this is surprising, since the company apparently started reaching out to a number of actors last year to seek out their interest in playing the lead role. The one thing suggesting that the film is still going ahead though is the report that Mattel is in "active" talks with Lions Rock about the film, indicating that not everyone has lost zeal in the project.
ADDED NEWS UPDATE BELOW (12/01/06)
Some sources have informed us that executive producer Rodney Ferrell, of Fox 2000 pics explained to them that the rights to "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" have been let go. "This was a project set up at Fox", begins Ferrell, "but in the recent months we gave the project back to Mattel and are no longer involved." In the film the story would have revolved around He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, who goes against the evil Skeletor to save the planet Eternia & protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull. The film has had a tumultuous journey, being delayed multiple times, has seen several writers come & go and, as we reported earlier, even had John Woo (Face/Off) attached as the producer & director. At this point, the film is being thrown back to Mattel, who may still be interested in making the live-action film. let's hope to see if this project can be pulled off.

Punisher: War Zone (What to Know)
Even before the unsuccessful 04 revamped Punisher movie was booted from theaters there have been rumors of a re-revamped & better version of the film on the character of Frank Castle (The Punisher). Yet this time let's hope they get the Punisher's world & this type of concept right like Man on Fire did. In this sequal of sorts, we'll be seeing Castle going to NY to take on Jigsaw, a lethally dangerous underworld boss. Hopefully Jigsaw keeps his look, abilities & links to Castle's past because I can't take any more made up bad guys acted out as badly as Travolta's insanely silly Howard Saint.
UPDATE: Lionsgate has finally released the official title for the upcoming sequel now called "Punisher: War Zone." Unfortunately, that's all the information that has become available; still no plot summary or a release date... So with the name we have Ray Stevenson taking over thr role of Frank Castle & Director Lexi Alexander helming.

"T3" director Jonathan Mostow has yet to sign on since he is adapting Marvel's Sub-Mariner Namor. The Killers (Music To Hear)
After forming three years ago, The Killers heard it all from record label executives. Despite a strong following in their hometown, Las Vegas, the label know-it-alls felt lead singer Brandon Flowers didn't have a stage presence or wasn't a good enough front man. The band couldn't get a deal to save their souls. But like so many U.S. acts before them, a following was found in England. Lizard King, a small London-based indie label, signed the quartet 03 but their break came when Morrissey recruited the rock band to open for him.
After all of the pitches & try outs the band was picked up by Island/Def Jam Records & in June of 04, it released its debut album, "Hot Fuss", an album that can't be praised more. Hot on the heels of that long debuted album, we finally have their follow up title "Sam's Town". This album might not be the drop dead obvious AWESOME album that Hot Fuss was, but Sam's Town is a soundscape one has to drive through more than once to appreciate. Mixed reviews cloud the new album, but this one says rock isn't dead and old is new again like not many. So listen and remember when you were young.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (What to Know)
As reported, a fourth installment of the popular "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise is circulating around.
Be warned, SPOILER territory, up ahead.
According to British newspaper The Daily Star Sunday, producers & directors were trying to cut costs for a third sequel, despite the huge profits of the first two movies. They, according to sources, decided that while Johnny Depp & Keira Knightley's characters are necessary to the success of the franchise, Orlando Bloom's Will Turner & a few other minor characters are not. And although a script for the fourth 'Pirates' movie is still being worked on, there were plans to kill off Will Turner.
This has all recently changed, as Keira knightley has announced her desire to leave the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. The Oscar-nominated (what a fluke) actress, shooting her last scene as pirate wench Elizabeth Swann in the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" films, told the movie's producers that she doesn't want to participate in any further sequels. On the set of latest film, sources caught up with Knightley & she had the following to say.
"I've been playing this girl since I was 17. I'm 21 now and I'm onto very different things, but it's fun to try to invest Elizabeth with some rebellious spirit. But what I'm doing in my newest movie is very different. I mean, she is a grown-up woman!"
With that load of retarded news, let me just add that who cares if either Bloom or Knightly disappear? I don't. Neither knows how to act, except maybe Bloom on the Lord of the Rings trilogy which was an easy role come to think about it again... well guess he can't. Anyhow so yeah, yeah, yeah Knightly was passable in the sadly disappointing Domino but not good enough. I think both are cardboard cutouts, no matter how photogenic they are, and neither is really an actor. Both have proven, despite pathetic critics & agents, that they cannot hold a film or lead. Sorry, but all we need is some competent writers to replace these & Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow and we have him. One out of two isn;t bad, so what's the big deal? So to Sparrow & The Water of Life.
