Terminator Salvation (What to Know)

Entertainment Weekly got the chance to sit down with producers Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek & Moritz Borman to talk about the upcoming "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins." Besides confirming that Christian Bale will play the role of John Connor, the producers spoke about the other characters & whether Arnold Schwarzenegger would return.

A rumor was that Connor was only going to be a supporting role. ANDERSON: John Connor is an ongoing, very central character throughout the next trilogy. He's leading the fight for the salvation of humanity against the machines. So he's very important. So he's the star?KUBICEK: Yes. ANDERSON: There's gonna be another major costar with kind of equal presence in this installment.

And that costar would play the Terminator character?
ANDERSON: Yes.... Well, it's hard to say. It is a new character introduced in the mythology that's not replacing Arnold [Schwarzenegger]. It's not like he's stepping into Arnold's shoes. It's a completely new character.

Okay, but is it a Terminator — a killing machine? ANDERSON: No, not really. That's one of the big twists that if we told you. Will Schwarzenegger be returning in any form? KUBICEK: He may make a cameo.ANDERSON: It still hasn't been determined, but if he does, it would be a very small cameo.According to Anderson and Kubicek, the movie is set to begin shooting in either Australia or Budapest on March 15th, with a budget north of $150 million.

Watchmen (What to Know)

Director Zack Snyder has updated the official "Watchmen" blog with several pictures of the New York backlot, in addition to a quick update. If I'm not mistaken, there seems to be a shot of Rorschach in one of the shots. Here is what he had to say:

"After a couple months of shooting at various locations and on stages, last week we finally made the transition to our New York City backlot. Since the New York City that is rendered in the graphic novel is so particular, it was very important to me that our backlot speak the same language, the vernacular of WATCHMEN. In addition, the backlot needs to function as many different parts of the city, countless store fronts, street corners, alleys, etc. So, with that in mind, we set out to build own custom backlot here in Vancouver, BC. In my opinion, the results speak for themselves."

Wes Anderson (Director Spotlight)

Argued to be a major artistic voice in American cinema, Wes Anderson (Born: Wesley Wales Anderson) has created a body of work that showcases a distinctive, will full & quirky vibe infused with an independent sensibility. Anderson, with collaborator Owen Wilson, attained a status in the late 1990s with his break out film, Bottle Rocket. Known for corky dramedies; with his best thus far being the critical darling Rushmore, a dazzling sophomore effort with equal parts coming-of-age story, French New Wave homage, and screwball comedy, Anderson has proven the ability to manage releasing films with his unique sense in the major studio system. With his break out indie hit Bottle Rocket, critical success of Rushmore to his acclaimed film The Royal Tenenbaums, Anderson stepped into his first big budget production of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, his first critical & commercial failure. Anderson's recent release The Darjeeling Limited brings the director back to a level of maturity that was expected of his work. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (What to Know)

After the big feud between New Line CEO Bob Shaye & "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson, things have quieted down and are actually headed in the direction of reconcilement. So what does this mean for the long-rumored "The Hobbit" film?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jackson might return for the prequel, but solely as an executive producer, with another person taking over helming duties.

MTV News attempted to confirm the rumor, but did not receive a reply from Jackson or New Line. Fortunately, Shaye & his co-CEO, Michael Lynne, gave up a few hints. "One film at a time!" Shaye laughed. "'The Hobbit' is in the future," Lynne added.

Does this mean that there's hope for the film? "There's more than hope," Lynne said with a wink.
