Starting Out In the Evening (Movie Watch)

All that remains for Leonard Schiller is to finish the novel he has been laboring on for almost ten years. With his four earlier books out of print, he has learned to starve himself of the desire for the success he was once so close to, though beneath this practice lives a pull for his work to be rediscovered. His solitary writer’s life is shaken by the arrival of Heather, an ambitious graduate student who persuades him that she can use her thesis to spur a rediscovery of his work. But as her inquiry proceeds, Heather displays a profound personal interest in Leonard, which unsettles him & stirs up his long-dormant need for intimacy. Meanwhile, Leonard’s daughter Ariel reconnects with her ex-boyfriend Casey, a man Leonard firmly disapproves of. Leonard’s encounters with Heather lead him down an unfamiliar path that threatens his writing, his health, & relationship to his daughter. But in living out in the open, in the evening of his life Schiller puts into practice the core theme of his novels — life is not designed for our comfort but for our struggle, for in struggle there is growth.

Watchmen (What to Know)

Director Zack Snyder has updated the official "Watchmen" blog with several pictures of the New York backlot, in addition to a quick update. If I'm not mistaken, there seems to be a shot of Rorschach in one of the shots. Here is what he had to say:

"After a couple months of shooting at various locations and on stages, last week we finally made the transition to our New York City backlot. Since the New York City that is rendered in the graphic novel is so particular, it was very important to me that our backlot speak the same language, the vernacular of WATCHMEN. In addition, the backlot needs to function as many different parts of the city, countless store fronts, street corners, alleys, etc. So, with that in mind, we set out to build own custom backlot here in Vancouver, BC. In my opinion, the results speak for themselves."
