Sunshine (Movie Watch)

Sunshine shows us fifty years in the future, where the sun is dying and the earth and its inhabitants are dying with it. Seven years have passed since several crewmembers on board the “Icarus” disappeared without a trace while on a mission to save the planet. Eight scientists on board the “Icarus II,” some from America, the rest from China, represent the earth’s final hope. They are carrying a massive bomb, the size of Kansas, which will be used to reignite a part of the dying sun. Deep into their journey, with radio contact far out of reach, the group begins to make critical mistakes. Their voyage becomes even stranger when they pick up a distress signal from the original “Icarus.” Suddenly, they must struggle to keep their sanity if they hope to have a chance to complete their mission.

Bobby (Movie Watch)

It is June 4th, 1968 and America is in the midst of fighting a war in Vietnam and dealing with social unrest due to the Civil Rights Movement back at home. Employees and visitors at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles are anticipating the arrival of esteemed Presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy. The hotel doorman, John Casey, the hotel manager Paul, his wife Miriam, the lounge singer, Virginia Fallon, war draftee William, and his new wife Diane are among the many who are impatiently awaiting Kennedy’s appearance. As their individual stories intertwine, they all head toward a disastrous and unavoidable finale. Unaware of what lies ahead, they will soon become united by a single, history-altering tragedy: the assassination of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

Catch a Fire (Movie Watch)

In 1980, in the Apartheid era South Africa, non-whites struggle with cruel & racist treatment due to existing separation laws. Patrick Chamusso is fortunate enough to have a home, a family & a newly acquired job at the Secunda Oil Refinery& has no legitimate motivation for involvement in anti-Apartheid movements. During a day off from work, following a morning of coaching his soccer team, Patrick visits a son that he has secretly fathered with his ex-girlfriend. At the same time, the refinery where he works is struck by a group of terrorists, with an attempt to blow it up. Patrick is arrested as a suspect, interrogated & tortured. To avoid exposing his double life & hurting his loved ones back at home, he keeps his alibi to himself. When his wife Precious is also arrested & beaten, Patrick gives in and lies by confessing to a crime he did not commit. Nic Vos, in contrast a much more reasonable white policeman than his fellow colleagues, sees through his confession & releases him. Patrick becomes a changed man, joins the outlawed African National Congress (ANC) & volunteers to destroy the Secunda Oil Refinery all by himself. When Vos learns of the plot, he begins a manhunt for Patrick, aka “Hotstuff."

Bug (Movie Watch)

Agnes is a lonely waitress with an abusive ex-husband, who has just been released from prison on parole. Her close friend R. C. has recently taken in a mysterious drifter named Peter, who seems harmless enough, but exudes a level of underlying danger.
Peter & Agnes hit it off when they become acquainted & soon the stranger is living with her in her shady motel room.

It seems that Peter’s Gulf War experience has left him with some rather unusual conspiracy theories. He has a peculiar obsession with BUGS & even believes that the government has implanted several inside his body as part of his post-war treatment. Agnes begins to share his abnormal fantasy & the two develop an unhealthy relationship based on mutual paranoia.

Completely immersed in their new ideology, they hole themselves up in the motel room as their behavior begins to descend further down into alarmingly fanatical inclinations that border on schizophrenia.

The Astronaut Farmer (Movie Watch)

When he discovers that he is in danger of losing his farm, a NASA astronaut decides to give up his dream job to try and save his home. With time, however, he begins to miss his former profession and eventually finds himself reaching for the skies once again. Using only the tools available to him in his barn, he begins to construct a rocket that will actually be able to leave the earth’s atmosphere. Of course, his activities arouse the interests of his neighbors, who immediately assume he is crazy. The media soon sniff out a good story and begin covering his progress. The government, on the other hand, approaches the situation with far more suspicion and considers him a potential threat that may need to be stopped.

The Number 23 (Graded)

Walter Sparrow stumbles onto a fascinating book titled The Number 23. It’s a peculiar little story about an individual that becomes obsessed with the number “23” & its recurrence in his everyday life. As Walter reads the novel & sees the character surrendering himself to his own paranoia, he too begins to experience similar feelings. In fact with time, Walter begins to spot parallels between the book & the real life situations around him, much to the displeasure of his wife Agatha, who begins to worry about his irrational behavior. His confusion continues to escalate & he begins to believe that the novel is actually based on his own life. When he discovers the main character’s grisly demise in the book, he truly begins to panic. If the story is indeed based on Walter’s life, then he will have to find a way to prevent his own impending doom from ever taking place.

Unknown (Movie Watch)

UNKNOWN unfolds in the style of Memento, a story told in reverse with an unforseeable ending. Five meen wake up tapped in a chemical warehouse with no memory of who they are or how they got there. They are forced to try to figure out who is good and who is evil before it's too late.

Mr. Woodcock (Movie Watch)

While growing up, John Farley and many of his classmates were tormented by a sadistic gym teacher named Mr. Woodcock. Things have since turned out quite well for John, who has gone on to become a successful self-help author and motivational speaker. When he hears that his hometown community wants to reward him for his achievements, he returns thinking that his painful memories of torment are now buried and long behind him. To his surprise, Mr. Woodcock, the man that humiliated him for years, is now dating his widowed mother Beverly. Even worse, the two lovebirds are engaged to be married. Determined not to let Mr. Woodcock ruin his life again, John sets out to prevent the nuptials from taking place by sabotaging his former teacher any way he can.

Breaking and Entering (Movie Watch)

Will is a yuppie landscape architect, in the midst of a personal and professional crisis. His state of the art office happens to be located in the seedy inner-city area of London called Kings Cross, making it an irresistible target for the many local prowlers. After Will encounters a young Muslim thief breaking into his office, his life undergoes a dramatic transformation. His curiosity about the event leads him on an investigation, out of the safe confines of his familiar world. Will’s confrontation with the young burglar, as well as a series of related, intersecting events that follow, have a dramatic impact on him and cause him to re-examine his life, including the affair he is presently having with the theif's mother.
