As reported HERE Aug 9th of 2006, P.T. Anderson's next film titled "There Will be Blood" based on the 1927 Upton Sinclair novel "OIL" is close at hand. The novel sees bribery of public officials, class warfare & international rivalry over oil production. Sinclair's story of a genial independent oil developer & his son, whose sympathy with the oilfield workers & socialist organizers fuels a running debate with his father. Senators, small investors, oil magnates, a Hollywood film star & a crusading evangelist are the people that populate the pages of the novel. Day-Lewis will play a prospector who buys the oil rights to a family's ranch, and then hits a major pocket of crude. The story then turns into a tale of greed & faith, as the prospector realizes the American dream & is destroyed by it.
